Despite of all the movements and all our history. We still need freedom. We still need to be free from the shackles of our lower self and rise high from the debris of all the slavery, we all have put ourselves in. To be human is the hardest task we are capable of accomplishing.

“And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, “Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority.” They said, “Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?” Allah said, “Indeed, I know that which you do not know.” (Quran 2:30)

  1. In USA ,the alleged model democracy, the megabanks and megacorps with their lackey politicians run the country to their advantage and in my opinion the people are disempowered and the freedom to vote is a mere illusion of democracy. Most nations of the world have no sovereignty at all because all power ultimately lies in the hands of those who have the money.

I hope you would elaborate further. Democracy is hailed in developing nations for their development. And we see strong indicators of the opposite results. What are the reasons? If not democracy what option do we have?

      • Democracy is our best option but many countries resent US for attempt to impose it. Yes probably helps build developing nations giving a sense of participation in personal and national effort. Many people in US feel it does not matter who we vote for because nothing really changes and the rich get richer and the middle class evaporates.

It is strange as people here give examples of US’s democracy. In my opinion true democracy still needs to be discovered by humanity. A democracy in which according to Mary Parker Follett there would be a ‘will to will the common will’.

  2. Have you seen the movie, or read the book, “Cloud Atlas”? If you can follow all the scene jumping, it is a lovely discourse on the spirit of freedom through ages and cultures.
